Wilderness touches the heart, mind and soul of each individual in a way known only to himself.
Elk Season was a great success for 2023. We provided a high success rate and opportunity for our clients. Although we did not pack into camp the usual number of 300 inch or better bulls, we did have numerous opportunities to do so. One 300 inch bull was wounded, other opportunities at 300 inch bulls were missed. Overall elk numbers were still good. We did, however, see some impacts from the 2022-23 winter in total herd numbers and antler growth. We chased a bull over 350 inches with a bow and had a great archery hunt. We were again blessed with the season we needed, lifetime memories, incredible hunt stories, with a world class hunting opportunity.
Change in the management of non-resident elk hunting licenses is upon us. There are now three WGFD regions for non-resident elk hunters to apply for. Combined with an elk special license increase, it will certainly be interesting to see how the draw odds shake out for 2024.
