4-Phase Guide School
This courageous guide school is designed to train, equip, hire and/or send out warrior guides (male or female) into the outdoor/hunting workspace. This four-phase process has proven to cultivate the strongest, healthiest and most authentic guides the industry has ever seen. This school provides the unique opportunity to grow your hunting and horsemanship skills to a level beyond average. You will learn how to operate successfully in untamed and unpredictable environments.
Non-Typical, in every sense of the word, is how we designed this program! This guide school is anything but typical.
We will accomplish the goal first by helping you become the best version of yourself, adding emotional intelligence concepts into the process while getting you equipped with the right tools to guide and survive anywhere in the world.
This class is an invitation to “become the wilderness,” arriving as one person and leaving completely different. This class is for men and women, young and old. You simply need to come willing and with a curiosity towards growth.
Each phase of the guide school can be taken all in one year or at your own pace over multiple years. You must complete Phase 1 in order to take Phase 2, and you must complete both Phases 1 and 2 in order to take Phase 4. Phase 3 can be taken at any time.

Phase 1
Horsemanship and Identity.
Advanced Back country Horsemanship, Back country Survival, and Navigation along with processing some pillar questions about your life (Who are you? What are your strengths? What do you need in order to be the best version of you?) are all covered in Phase 1. All this instruction and direction is available to you while building a relationship with a tribe of the like-minded.
The setting will be a hunting camp surrounded by 10,000 mountain peaks, 30 miles south of Jackson Hole Wyoming. We will be doing day rides and overnight pack trips to build a solid foundation in advanced back country horsemanship.

Phase 2
Learn to Hunt!
We will grow your hunting skills way above average. We will teach you to master your optics and locate animals at distances up to 5 miles. We can help you fast track stalking, hunting, and scouting skills. You will learn skills and methods that have been honed for decades by our team. Via horseback, we will spike camp throughout the rugged mountains of western Wyoming, scouting and filming animals for NTO’s upcoming hunting season.
Learn to thrive on the mountain with just the basics. Come learn why 90 percent of giant trophies get taken by 10 percent of hunters. Do you long to be one of the 10 percent?

Phase 3
Shooting.
This stand-alone course will teach you how to become a high-level marksman. Much of Non-Typical Outfitters’ success is in our ability to set up a killing shot for our hunters at high speed, in highly exciting situations. So many hunters and guides have stories of how the “big ones” got away because they were not trained or prepared for what happened when they spotted a giant.
Here at Non-Typical Outfitters we have a high success rate on getting “the big ones”. No other guide school teaches shooting the way Non-Typical Outfitters does. We have been training hunters and shooters in mountainous terrain for over a decade.
This will be a 3-day shooting class where you will be the one behind the gun. This part of the class is tailored to learning how to set up the shot with gear you already carry on the mountain.

Phase 4
Internship.
You will come and shadow NTO’s best guides to learn by their “modeling”.
The American Psychological Association defines modeling as, “a technique used in which learning occurs through observation and imitation alone.”
We have found that new guides learn best by shadowing a seasoned guide and engaging in team support to grow this skill and combat one’s own limiting beliefs about success or what you are capable of. This internship phase is probably the most valuable section of the guide school.
You will come and stay in hunting camp during the season while we are conducting hunts for our clients. Do you aspire to be part of an elite, highly skilled team that impacts the industry in a healthy and meaningful way? We will help you with job placement upon completion.
